CNY Community Foundation Grant
funds the New Wheeler Library Media Center

Also, through the generosity of the Rockwell/Wheeler PTO and several local businesses, the furniture for the two leisure reading areas was purchased and arrived on September 9th.  To date, we have received donations from 1) E.C.K. Tree & Outdoor Services, 7000 S. Salina Street, Nedrow, New York.  2) Brown Sound Equipment Corp. 6512 Basile Rowe, East Syracuse, New York. & 3) Summit Automotive, 756 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, New York.  On behalf of our students, staff and parents, I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this worthwhile undertaking.

 

Wheeler Community Tech and Electronic Media Initiative Nights (6:00PM - 8:00PM)

Place these dates on your calendar - October 21st, November 18th, December 16th, January 13th, February 24th, March 24th, April 14th, & May 12th

 

The first Community Tech and Electronic Media Night on October 21 from 6:00 - 8:00PM in the new Library Media  Center will explore the Onondaga County digital catalog, familiarize attendees with Overdrive, OCPL's audio book software, and explain to adults how to synch these books to mp3 players and iPods.  The difference between an e-book and an audio book would be explained, and time will be allowed for exploration of the audio and e-book offerings on Audible.com, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Nobles.com.  Attendees would be asked to bring their OCPL library card if they have one (please request a pin number for your library card in advance through OCPL), and an iPod or mp3 player with their synching cable.

Greetings from the Principal!

I am so glad you decided to visit our wonderful web site and learn a little more about Wheeler School.  At Wheeler we offer a wide variety of activities and programs for grades three through six whch are child-centered and designed to meet the individual and diverse needs of our children.  Our faculty and staff at Wheeler School are skilled and committed to maintaining academic excellence and provividing a safe and secure learning environment.

As principal, I have the pleasure of interacting and working with a variety of students at various age groups. I am truly dedicated to increasing student achievement through the use of technology, current research and the incorporation of best practices.  I strongly value the the support of the OCS community and the efforts of our PTO.  Please visit our school to offer volunteer services, attend planned activities, or read to students as part of our literacy program.  We are truly on the move! 

I look forward to your involvement in the learning process. Together we can make a difference for our students.

Public Hearing Februarry 9, 2010
A public hearing on changes to the Code of Conduct will be held February 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria. The regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting will immediately follow the public hearing in the Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria.
